Despatch Manager

About the role

DHL Supply Chain is seeking an experienced Despatch Manager to lead transport operations for the Hawkes Bay region. You will ensure that delivery and pick‑up schedules are met while maintaining high standards of safety, security, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day transport operations and align site activities with line‑haul schedules.
• Maintain security measures, including vehicle seals, to protect products and assets.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, driver fatigue, and loading regulations.
• Monitor freight billing accuracy and uphold customer service standards.
• Conduct regular compliance and security audits, investigating any breaches.
• Drive team performance to meet customer KPIs and internal targets.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational audits.
• Manage costs within budget and assist with site planning and performance monitoring.
• Lead a small team, fostering engagement, safety, and development.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• At least 3 years of Class 5 truck driving experience and ability to operate heavy vehicles when needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships and influencing stakeholders.
• Track record of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
