Design Estimator

About the role

Join Downer Networks Services in Auckland as a Design Estimator, delivering essential electricity infrastructure across New Zealand. This permanent, full‑time position supports the design and estimation of both overhead and underground distribution projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver design and estimation services for electricity distribution network projects.
• Prepare quotations, cost estimates and as‑built documentation.
• Coordinate resources and support project planning and delivery.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and mentor junior members of the design team.

Required profile

• Practical, solutions‑focused engineer or estimator with experience in power distribution networks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to engage with stakeholders to achieve high‑quality outcomes.
• Experience working across both design and delivery environments.

Required skills

• Knowledge of overhead and underground network design and construction.
• Familiarity with Powerco standards and design tools such as Neara.
• Proficiency with estimating systems and Microsoft Office applications.
