About the role
The Democracy Advisor will support the Maungakiekie‑Tāmaki Local Board in delivering community‑driven decision‑making. Based in the Panmure and Three Kings Local Board offices, you will act as the governance expert for board members and staff.
Key responsibilities
- Schedule, prepare and facilitate public meetings, forums and workshops.
- Produce high‑quality agendas, minutes and workshop records.
- Monitor and follow up on resolutions and action points from meetings.
- Assist team members in organising community consultation events and engagement meetings.
Required profile
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build productive relationships with board members, colleagues and community groups.
- Strong understanding of local government legislation, council practices and constraints.
- Confidence, political acumen and good judgement.
- Self‑motivated, high initiative and able to balance competing demands.
- Flexibility to attend some meetings in the evenings.
