Demi Chef de Partie – Full‑time Kitchen Role

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Demi Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team at Sudima Christchurch Airport Hotel. This full‑time position offers a guaranteed 30‑hour week and a competitive hourly rate, with a rotating 7‑day roster.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare high‑quality dishes to brand standards for the restaurant, bar, conference facilities and room service.
• Organise each shift by placing orders, completing prep work and ensuring the kitchen is clean and hygienic.
• Support the Head Chef and mentor junior kitchen staff.
• Foster a cooperative and respectful team environment.
• Monitor dish quality at every stage of preparation and presentation.
• Execute the food control plan and maintain sanitation standards.

Required profile

• Great attitude with at least two years of relevant kitchen experience (may substitute formal qualifications).
• Certificate in Cookery (Level 4) or NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) is an advantage.
• Experience in a busy kitchen, strong planning and organising abilities.
• Ability to multi‑task, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends, late nights and public holidays.
• Hands‑on experience with kitchen equipment such as grillers and pasta makers.
• Calm under pressure with excellent time‑management skills.
• Familiarity with sanitation regulations.
