Dean, Faculty of Information and Media Studies

About the role

Western University is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS). The Dean will guide the faculty’s strategic direction, uphold academic quality, and enhance its research and outreach profile, with an appointment effective summer 2025.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for FIMS, reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic).
• Develop and implement the faculty’s strategic vision, ensuring program quality and integrity.
• Champion fundraising initiatives, external partnerships, and community outreach.
• Oversee fiscal management, budgeting, and resource allocation for the faculty.
• Promote interdisciplinary research and collaboration across media, communications, library & information science, journalism, and health information science.

Required profile

• Distinguished scholar eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor.
• Significant administrative experience in a complex academic or research environment.
• Proven ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships.
• Interest or experience in fundraising and external engagement.
• Strong fiscal management capabilities.
