Dean, Faculty of Information and Media Studies

About the role

Western University is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS). The appointment will begin in summer 2025 and reports directly to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic). The Dean will guide the faculty’s strategic direction, uphold academic quality, and champion research and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the faculty’s strategic vision and long‑term plans.
• Ensure academic excellence and integrity across undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Lead fundraising initiatives and external outreach to enhance the faculty’s profile.
• Oversee fiscal management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Represent the faculty on the university’s senior leadership team.

Required profile

• Distinguished scholar eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor.
• Extensive administrative experience in a complex academic environment.
• Proven ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships.
• Experience with, or strong interest in, fundraising and external partnership development.
• Demonstrated fiscal management competence.
