About the role

Western University is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS). The Dean will guide the faculty’s strategic direction, uphold academic excellence, and enhance its research and community impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the faculty’s strategic vision and long‑term plans.
• Ensure the academic quality and integrity of undergraduate and graduate programs.
• Lead fundraising initiatives and strengthen external partnerships.
• Oversee fiscal management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Champion faculty research, outreach, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Represent the faculty on the university’s senior leadership team, reporting to the Provost and Vice‑President (Academic).

Required profile

• Distinguished scholar eligible for appointment at the rank of Professor.
• Significant administrative experience in a complex academic environment.
• Proven ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships.
• Interest in or experience with fundraising and external engagement.
• Strong theoretical knowledge in a relevant discipline and applied experience.
• Demonstrated fiscal management capabilities.
