Database Analyst

About the role

The Database Analyst will join Deloitte’s Information Technology Services team in Auckland, supporting enterprise‑level SQL Server databases and cloud‑based data warehouse solutions. You will work closely with developers and business stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure reliable, high‑performance data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise databases for local applications and system integrations.
• Collaborate with developers and stakeholders across the SDLC and support released applications.
• Performance‑tune complex SQL queries to improve application speed.
• Manage, patch and monitor Microsoft SQL Server and Azure PaaS SQL environments.
• Provide Level 2/3 support for escalated database issues.
• Perform routine maintenance, release deployments and off‑hours support as required.
• Support business continuity and disaster recovery through scheduled backups and restores.
• Ensure security and compliance via monitoring, logging and index maintenance.
• Contribute to data‑warehousing projects, optimise cloud data infrastructure and implement ETL processes.
• Own major incidents, resolve escalated problems and maintain comprehensive documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of full‑time IT experience with a focus on database administration and data management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure PaaS SQL and data‑warehousing concepts.
• Experience using ETL/ELT tools such as Azure Data Factory, SSIS and SSRS.
• Strong understanding of dimensional modelling, slowly changing dimensions and data normalization.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD automation practices.
