Data Scientist – Machine Learning & GenAI (Hybrid, Auckland)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to lead the design, development and deployment of custom machine‑learning models and analytics applications for commercial products. Working in a hybrid setting in Auckland CBD, you will accelerate data pipelines using advanced GenAI workflows within a modern cloud environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and test bespoke data models, algorithms and analytics applications for product deployment.
• Collaborate with internal delivery teams and external clients to understand complex business problems and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Utilise GenAI workflows (Claude) to speed up pipeline development and scale architecture.
• Implement monitoring tools and processes to track model accuracy and data integrity.
• Communicate analysis results and model insights to diverse audiences in a clear, accessible manner.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
• Current residence in New Zealand with unrestricted working rights.
• Strong grasp of version control, package management and collaborative development practices.

Required skills

• Advanced Python programming.
• Proficient SQL skills.
• Statistical modelling experience (regressions, clustering).
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with Claude GenAI workflows.
• Practical knowledge of GIS technologies (ArcGIS, PostGIS, Postgres).
