Data Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to lead the design, development, and deployment of custom machine‑learning models and analytics applications for commercial product delivery. The role combines deep technical work with strategic client engagement, operating in a collaborative, hybrid environment in Auckland CBD.

Key responsibilities

• Build custom data models, algorithms, and analytics applications for commercial product deployment.
• Partner with internal delivery teams and external clients to understand complex problems and engineer fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
• Utilise GenAI workflows (Claude) to accelerate pipeline development and scale architecture.
• Establish tools and processes to monitor model accuracy and data integrity.
• Communicate analysis and modelling results to diverse audiences in a clear, accessible manner.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative discipline.
• Advanced Python and SQL proficiency with experience in statistical modelling (regressions, clustering).
• Hands‑on experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with GenAI workflows, particularly Claude, to speed up data pipeline creation.
• Knowledge of GIS technologies (ArcGIS, PostGIS, PostgreSQL) is highly beneficial.
• Strong understanding of version control and package management.
