Data Engineer – Databricks

About the role

EY is looking for a senior‑level Data Engineer to design, build and operate scalable data solutions that drive business value. Based in our Auckland office, you will work closely with data professionals, program teams and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical designs.

Key responsibilities

• Explain strengths and weaknesses of data‑engineering options to both technical and senior business audiences.
• Design, build and operate on‑premises or cloud data‑engineering architectures for storage, integration, validation, security and lifecycle management.
• Create weekly status reports, manage project budgets and maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
• Coordinate junior colleagues or team members to ensure focused delivery.
• Model data diagrams in ER Studio (logical and physical designs).
• Develop and maintain ingestion patterns, updating them as required by architects.

Required profile

• Proven ability to translate business requirements into precise technical specifications.
• Experience acting as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Background in data‑pipeline development using Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Genie, Azure DevOps and Unity Catalog.
• Experience with large‑scale data transformations, preferably on Azure platforms for SAP ECC or S/4 HANA.
• Manufacturing or supply‑chain exposure is a plus but not mandatory.
