Data Engineer – Build Scalable Data Pipelines

About the role

Alliance Group Ltd is looking for a talented Data Engineer to join its Christchurch team on a full‑time basis. You will design, build and maintain the data infrastructure that powers business operations and strategic decision‑making, turning data into a competitive advantage.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain scalable pipelines and curated datasets for efficient data collection, transformation and storage.
• Ensure data quality, integrity and availability throughout the data lifecycle.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data into reliable data warehouses or lakes.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate data requirements into technical solutions.
• Deliver self‑service analytics products and retire legacy data systems.
• Apply data‑governance standards and collaborate on tool and API integration.
• Monitor data systems, manage risks with alerting and controls.
• Stay current on emerging data technologies to continuously improve capabilities.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in data engineering, development or software engineering.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD practices, Azure DevOps and Kanban methodologies.
• Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling.
• Agile mindset with experience delivering in iterative environments.
• Excellent communication skills for translating technical detail to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally, take ownership and lead tasks to completion.
• Problem‑solving expertise for complex data issues.
• Experience with data‑governance frameworks and data‑security best practices.
• Familiarity with machine‑learning pipelines and integrating ML models into data workflows.
