Data Centre Technician - Team Lead

About the role

Sharon AI is expanding its AI infrastructure in Auckland and needs an experienced Data Centre Technician – Team Lead. This hands‑on leadership position ensures the operational integrity, availability and performance of critical data‑centre assets while guiding a team of technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and allocate work for a team of Data Centre Technicians.
• Act as the primary escalation point for operational incidents.
• Oversee installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, storage and network equipment.
• Enforce operational procedures, safety standards and change‑management processes.
• Support capacity planning, asset management and lifecycle activities.
• Monitor data‑centre performance, availability and health.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives for efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure and vendor teams on deployments and upgrades.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data‑centre, infrastructure or critical‑facilities environments.
• Previous experience leading or supervising technical teams.
• Strong organisational, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced, high‑availability settings.

Required skills

• Server, storage and networking infrastructure knowledge.
• Hardware and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Capacity planning and asset management.
• Incident management and change‑control processes.
• Familiarity with AI, HPC or GPU‑based environments (preferred).
