Data Analyst – Retail (NZ)

About the role

We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong retail domain knowledge to bridge business needs and technical solutions. In this client‑facing position you will work closely with architects, data scientists and business stakeholders to design and deliver analytics projects that enable data‑driven decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with business users to capture requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Analyse business processes, identify improvement opportunities and map problems to appropriate data solutions.
• Define data collection strategies, perform exploratory analysis, profiling and quality checks.
• Collaborate with architects, data scientists and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare clear reports, dashboards and presentations for both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret retail business problems (pricing, merchandising, sales, loyalty, supply chain, marketing).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams and articulating data‑science outputs to business users.

Required skills

• Proficient SQL for data extraction, joins, filters, aggregations and query optimisation.
• Python for data manipulation and analytics.
• Power BI for reporting, dashboarding and data visualisation.
• Advanced Excel for analysis.
• Familiarity with Azure cloud services (nice‑to‑have).
