Data Analyst – Data/Development Team (Wellington)

About the role

Join the Data/Development whānau at Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua (TEC) as a Data Analyst. This permanent, Wellington‑based position offers the chance to work with modern data platforms such as Azure and Databricks while supporting New Zealand’s tertiary education and training system.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with business teams to gather, clarify, and translate data requirements.
• Design, maintain, and document data models, master data, reference data, metadata and definitions.
• Provide day‑to‑day data analysis support and problem resolution for TEC business units.
• Advise on and implement changes to TEC data products, processes and data‑management frameworks.
• Champion consistent data‑management metrics and processes across projects.

Required profile

• Solid experience as a Data Analyst with a focus on translating business needs into data solutions.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Detail‑oriented, well‑organized and committed to continuous improvement.
