Dairy Production Manager (2IC) – Westport

About the role

The Dairy Production Manager (2IC) will support the Farm Manager at Tram Road Dairy, a 429‑ha undulating dairy farm near Westport. You will help implement farm plans, oversee feed allocation, animal health, breeding and records, and step in to lead the team when the Farm Manager is away.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Farm Manager in developing and executing farm plans.
• Manage feed allocation and pasture utilisation.
• Monitor animal health, breeding programmes and maintain accurate records.
• Provide hands‑on support to the team, including milking and general farm duties.
• Take full responsibility for daily operations on the Farm Manager’s day off.

Required profile

• Proven dairy experience in grazing and animal health.
• Strong commitment to animal welfare, health and safety.
• Self‑motivated with a desire to develop leadership skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a supportive team environment.

Required skills

• Current full NZ driver’s licence.
• Experience operating farm machinery and tractors.
