Dairy Farm Assistant – Hands‑on Role with On‑site Accommodation

About the role

We are looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team at Eyrewell Dairy in West Eyreton. This hands‑on position offers the chance to work across the full dairy cycle, from milking to calving, while receiving support from an experienced farm crew.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the 60‑bale rotary milking system to milk approximately 950 cows daily.
• Assist with calving, feeding, and general animal care.
• Perform routine farm tasks such as cleaning, maintenance of equipment, and pasture management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and animal‑welfare standards.
• Drive farm vehicles as required, holding a current NZ restricted or full driver’s licence.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic, hands‑on attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Proactive approach and commitment to safety and animal welfare.
• Experience in a dairy‑farming environment or a strong interest in developing one.
• Current NZ restricted or full driver’s licence.

Required skills

• Operation of rotary milking equipment.
