Custodian – Auckland Temple

About the role

The Special Projects Department is hiring a full‑time Custodian for the Auckland Temple. You will ensure the interior and surrounding buildings remain clean, beautiful, and reverent, supporting members in their worship and sacred ordinances.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain pristine cleanliness of all assigned temple areas, including marble, stained glass, brass, carpets, tile, and grout.
• Clean, move, or replace rugs, furniture, draperies, chandeliers, and other items as needed.
• Set up meeting rooms and ancillary spaces upon request.
• Use cleaning agents and chemicals safely, following all safety protocols and wearing required protective equipment.
• Operate motorised equipment such as vacuums, buffers, carpet cleaners, and other hand tools to achieve high‑quality results.
• Report any hazards, damages, or concerns promptly to the Custodial Supervisor.

Required profile

• Prior custodial experience with knowledge of cleaning procedures for marble, stained glass, brass, carpets, tile, and grout.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lb, push loaded carts, bend, crawl, reach, and climb ladders.
• Capability to work 8‑hour shifts and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Proof of legal right to work in New Zealand; a police background check may be required.

Required skills

• Proficiency with buffers, carpet cleaners, and vacuum cleaners.
• Experience operating motorised cleaning tools and hand tools.
• Safe handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
