Cultural Collections Adviser

About the role

We are seeking a knowledgeable, collaborative, and passionate Cultural Collections Adviser to join the Cultural Collections team within Student and Scholarly Services at the University of Auckland. The role focuses on rare books, published heritage materials, and special collections that support teaching, learning and research across the university.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, manage, preserve and ensure accessibility of published collections.
• Provide research consultations and advisory services to students, staff, researchers and external clients.
• Lead coordination of exhibitions, displays and promotional activities showcasing collection holdings.
• Deliver teaching sessions and support learning activities using collection materials.
• Collaborate with academic faculties and internal teams to support teaching, learning and research partnerships.
• Maintain metadata accuracy and improve collection discoverability across systems and databases.
• Contribute to projects and initiatives across Cultural Collections and wider university services.
• Promote collections through digital and in‑person engagement activities.
