About the role
The Public Defence Service (PDS) is seeking an experienced criminal litigator to join its North Shore office in Albany. You will provide high‑quality defence representation to legally aided clients and manage a diverse caseload of criminal matters.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver defence representation for legally aided clients across a range of criminal cases.
- Manage a varied caseload, ensuring timely and effective advocacy.
- Support intermediate and senior lawyers within the team.
Required profile
- Hold PAL 1 approval level and be qualified to practice law in New Zealand.
- Demonstrated confidence in building credibility with judges, peers and the wider legal community.
- Passionate about criminal justice issues and able to relate empathetically to a wide range of people.
- Enjoy collaborative work, sharing expertise and brainstorming solutions.
