Court Registry Officer – Permanent Part‑Time (Christchurch)

About the role

We are looking for a Court Registry Officer to join our Christchurch precinct on a permanent part‑time basis. In this role you will support the smooth operation of the court, interacting with the judiciary, legal professionals and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate case files, perform data entry and make sound decisions to keep records up to date.
• Run court sessions, including opening proceedings in English and Te Reo Māori, and provide administrative support in the courtroom and chambers.
• Deliver front‑line customer service to members of the public, lawyers and other stakeholders via face‑to‑face, phone and email.
• Assist with general court administration and use audio‑visual equipment as required.

Required profile

• Resilient and able to handle sensitive cases in a fast‑paced environment.
• Detail‑oriented with strong observational skills.
• Self‑aware, mature and positive when dealing with diverse customers.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive and urgent tasks.
• Eager to learn and adapt to changing legislation and processes.
• Excellent communicator with good English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation.
