Court Registry Officer

About the role

The Court Registry Officer supports the smooth operation of the Dunedin District & High Court. This fixed‑term position (until 30 June 2027) involves case management, court taking, and front‑line customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate case files and perform data entry with high attention to detail.
• Run court sessions, including opening proceedings in English and Te Reo Māori, and coordinate with judges and chambers.
• Provide customer service to the public, lawyers, and judiciary via face‑to‑face, phone, and email.
• Handle general administrative duties to ensure the court functions efficiently.

Required profile

• Resilient when dealing with sensitive, high‑volume cases.
• Detail‑oriented and observant to ensure accurate information.
• Self‑aware and able to interact positively with diverse customers.
• Capable of multitasking and shifting quickly between repetitive processes.
• Eager to learn and adapt to changing legislation and procedures.
• Excellent communicator with strong English and confident Te Reo Māori pronunciation.
• Comfortable using audio‑visual equipment in a courtroom setting.
