About the role
The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Court Registry Officer to join the Criminal team at Dunedin District Court. This permanent, full‑time position involves supporting the smooth operation of the court, liaising with judges, jurors, and the public, and ensuring cases progress efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Court Taking: introduce judges in English and Te Reo Māori, manage courtroom and chambers activities, oversee jurors and general court administration.
- Case Management: provide judges and parties with necessary information, coordinate logistics to ensure timely hearings.
- Customer Service: respond to court‑related enquiries face‑to‑face, by phone or email, delivering accurate and professional assistance.
- Liaise with multiple stakeholders across the justice system, maintaining clear communication with judges and court staff.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented and observant, with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Self‑aware and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Capable of multitasking and handling conflicting priorities.
- Willing to learn and adapt to changing legislation and court processes.
- Resilient when dealing with sensitive or high‑volume cases.
- Hold a full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
