Court Registry Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Court Registry Officer to join the Auckland District Court Family Jurisdiction team. This permanent full‑time position involves supporting the smooth operation of the court, interacting with judges, lawyers, police, families and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with court taking, including introducing judges in English and Te Reo Māori, managing jurors and supporting judges in the courtroom and chambers.
• Provide front‑line customer service at the court hub, handling enquiries face‑to‑face, by phone or email.
• Maintain accurate case files and perform data‑entry tasks as part of case management.
• Coordinate with a range of stakeholders such as defendants, witnesses, Oranga Tamariki, lawyers and police officers.

• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to make quality decisions.
• Detail‑oriented, observant and able to manage repetitive processes accurately.
• Resilient and able to handle sensitive, high‑volume cases.
• Self‑aware, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to changing legislation and court procedures.

Required skills

• Effective communication with judges, legal professionals and the public.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting duties.
• Proficiency in data entry and case file management.
