About the role
The Court Registry Officer supports the smooth operation of the court by liaising with judges, legal professionals, police, and the public. This 12‑month fixed‑term position is based within the Ministry of Justice and involves both courtroom and administrative duties.
Key responsibilities
- Facilitate court proceedings, introduce judges in English and Te Reo Māori, and manage jurors.
- Provide front‑line customer service in person, by phone, or email for court‑related enquiries.
- Maintain accurate case files, perform data entry, and ensure case information is up‑to‑date.
- Work closely with judges, lawyers, police officers, Oranga Tamariki, and other stakeholders.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented and observant with strong accuracy in handling court processes.
- Self‑aware and able to interact confidently with a diverse range of customers.
- Capable of multitasking and managing conflicting priorities.
- Willing to learn and adapt to changing legislation and procedures.
- Resilient when dealing with sensitive or high‑volume cases.
