Contract Manager – Civil & Water Infrastructure Projects

About the role

SouthRoads is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to lead its civil and water infrastructure portfolio in Oamaru. The role involves overseeing a diverse range of projects from tender through to completion, building strong client relationships and ensuring safe, high-quality delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an experienced team delivering three-waters renewals, civil construction, land development, road rehabilitation, drainage and water infrastructure works, and traffic management operations.
• Manage projects from tendering and quoting to final handover, overseeing budgets, forecasting, project costing and contract administration.
• Develop and mentor staff, fostering high-performing teams and promoting continuous improvement.
• Maintain and grow long-term client relationships, ensuring projects meet safety, quality and performance standards.

Required profile

• Significant experience managing civil construction or infrastructure contracts.
• Strong knowledge of water infrastructure, three-waters or related facilities.
• Proven leadership ability with experience motivating and developing teams.
• Commercial acumen including budgeting, forecasting and contract administration.
• Experience in tendering, quoting and managing client relationships.
• Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field (highly regarded).
