Construction Project Manager

About the role

Ruruku is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead a portfolio of education‑sector projects across New Zealand. You will own projects from initial scoping through to handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to a high quality standard.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project scope, budgets, programmes and quality.
• Coordinate consultants through the design process.
• Prepare procurement documentation and oversee contractor tender processes.
• Administer construction contracts throughout delivery.
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Manage project risks, RFIs, variations and defects.
• Monitor budgets and programmes, producing regular project reports.
• Collaborate with in‑house design and quantity surveying teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of systems, templates and delivery processes.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience managing construction projects in New Zealand.
• Experience delivering commercial, education or public‑sector projects.
• Construction‑related tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (no visa sponsorship).
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts.
• Understanding of procurement and consenting processes.
• Proficiency with cloud‑based project management software.
