Construction Operator – Civil Infrastructure (Invercargill)

About the role

We are looking for a Construction Operator to join our team in Invercargill, delivering a variety of capital works, renewals and upgrades across water, wastewater and storm‑water networks. The role combines hands‑on civil construction with operating plant and supporting emergency response activities, offering a dynamic work environment where no two days are the same.

Key responsibilities

• Install and repair pipelines and other critical assets for water, wastewater and storm‑water systems.
• Operate construction plant, machinery and excavators safely and efficiently.
• Support planned works and emergency call‑outs, including after‑hours response.
• Assist with traffic management and site logistics as required.
• Maintain accurate job records, reports and electronic field documentation.

Required profile

• Experience in civil construction, preferably on water‑related projects.
• Current Class 1 driver licence (Class 2 is a plus).
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and commitment to health, safety and quality.
• Willingness to support after‑hours and emergency activities.
