Construction Manager - Reconductoring

About the role

This is a hands‑on Construction Manager position leading large‑scale overhead transmission line reconductoring projects across New Zealand. Reporting to the Wellington Transmission Lines group, you will be on‑site delivering safe, efficient upgrades while travelling nationally as required.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute detailed construction and run plans for reconductoring programmes.
• Coordinate crews, plant, materials and subcontractors on multiple work fronts.
• Lead conductor replacement, structure modifications and related upgrades.
• Drive constructability planning and ensure site readiness before work commences.
• Oversee subcontractors working alongside Ventia crews.
• Champion health, safety and environmental performance at all times.

Required profile

• Qualified Line Mechanic (Lineman) with extensive transmission line wiring/construction experience.
• Proven reconductoring or large transmission upgrade experience in New Zealand or overseas.
• Background as a Lineman Supervisor progressing to Construction Manager or established Construction Manager.
• Deep understanding of live‑line and de‑energised works.
• Demonstrated ability to lead crews and subcontractors on complex sites.
• Strong planning, coordination and communication skills.
• Willingness to undertake a national travel role.
