Community Services Team Leader

About the role
The Community Services Team Leader will guide a multidisciplinary team in Christchurch, delivering essential community programmes that support holistic family wellbeing. This permanent part‑time position (32 hours per week) offers the chance to shape services that respond to the evolving needs of priority communities.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop Community Service Coordinators, Playgroup Coordinators, Injury Prevention and Home Visiting Support Coordinators.
- Ensure programmes are locally responsive, nationally consistent, and aligned with community priorities.
- Oversee risk management, reporting, and performance monitoring.
- Manage budgets, work‑plans and deliver results against targets.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the community sector.
- Travel across the region as required to support service delivery.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach and develop a team.
- Collaborative approach, excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Tertiary qualification (diploma or higher) in Community Services, Education or Social Service, or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of volunteering, community development and the challenges faced by priority communities.
- Experience managing budgets and work‑plans.
- Cultural competency to support Māori, Pasifika, Asian and other New Zealand communities.
