Community Nurse Manager

About the role

Waipuna Hospice is seeking a Community Nurse Manager to lead its community nursing team in Te Puna, Tauranga. This full‑time role involves overseeing specialist palliative‑care services delivered to patients at home, in clinics and in the hospice’s inpatient unit.

Key responsibilities

• Provide compassionate people leadership for a team of around 20 nurses, setting expectations, coaching staff and promoting wellbeing.
• Manage operational matters including workload planning, rostering, service responsiveness and quality outcomes.
• Ensure clinical excellence by upholding evidence‑based practice, clinical standards and assurance processes.
• Contribute to Waipuna Hospice’s 10‑Year Strategy, focusing on workforce capability, service sustainability, integration, equity and future readiness.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership experience in a nursing or health‑care setting.
• Strong judgement, calm and grounded approach to managing a community‑focused team.
• Commitment to equitable, patient‑centred care and ability to foster team cohesion.

Required skills

• Specialist palliative‑care knowledge (highly valued).
• Clinical nursing expertise.
