Community Ministries Manager – Invercargill

About the role

The Salvation Army is seeking a Community Ministries Manager to lead its Invercargill centre. This senior role oversees day‑to‑day operations, supports a multidisciplinary team, and ensures trauma‑informed, holistic services for individuals and whānau facing hardship across Southland.

Key responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership to deliver safe, effective, and responsive services.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary frontline team in a demanding environment.
• Maintain service quality and alignment with practice frameworks, contracts, and the Te Whare Tapa Whā model.
• Manage budgets, funding, and resources to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
• Build and nurture partnerships with Corps leadership, iwi, and community organisations.
• Promote an integrated, collaborative approach to service delivery and the organisation’s mission.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading teams, fostering culture, and supporting staff wellbeing.
• Resilience in navigating complexity, change, and competing demands.
• Background in community or social services with a strong grasp of holistic, trauma‑informed practice.
• Ability to build partnerships, influence outcomes, and work within a culturally competent framework respecting Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
