Community Hub Manager – New Lynn

About the role

The Community Hub Manager will lead Auckland’s busiest New Lynn hub, overseeing library services, community programmes, venue hire and events. This fixed‑term role (to September 2027) offers the chance to shape a vibrant, diverse community destination while developing senior leadership capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day operational leadership of the library and community centre, managing staff and financial resources.
• Oversee programming budgets and ensure effective financial oversight.
• Facilitate and grow community‑ and partner‑led activities that respond to local needs.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, partners and the Whau Local Board.
• Lead recruitment, induction, coaching and ongoing development of a 19‑person team.
• Create a safe, welcoming, inclusive environment for visitors and staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a community or public‑service setting.
• Strong operational, financial and people‑leadership capabilities.
• Demonstrated success in building effective stakeholder and community partnerships.
• Customer‑focused mindset with a track record of continuous improvement.
• Collaborative, innovative leadership style and ability to navigate change.
• Commitment to being a Tiriti o Waitangi partner and understanding of te ao Māori.
