Communications Manager

About the role

Chorus is looking for a Communications Manager to bring its Corporate Affairs & Sustainability strategy to life. Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, you will shape public perception of Chorus, its fibre network, and its contribution to New Zealand’s future.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team of communications professionals to protect and strengthen Chorus’s social licence.
• Develop and execute strategic communications plans that build trust and reinforce the company’s purpose.
• Manage media relations, including handling sensitive or high‑profile issues.
• Provide communications counsel to executives and senior leaders.
• Support key business initiatives with targeted communications expertise.

Required profile

• Collaborative, pragmatic leader with a blend of strategic thinking and hands‑on delivery.
• Proven experience leading communications, external affairs or media‑relations teams.
• Track record of creating and delivering strategic communications that enhance reputation.
• Strong media‑relations background, able to navigate complex issues.
• Experience advising senior executives and senior‑level stakeholder management.
• People‑leadership experience focused on coaching high‑performing teams.
