Commis Chef (Hotel Kitchen)

About the role

We are looking for a Commis Chef to join the kitchen team at TRIBE Auckland Fort Street. In this entry‑level position you will help bring the hotel’s food philosophy to life, preparing and presenting dishes in a fast‑paced, design‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with food preparation, cooking and plating.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas.
• Support stock management, including receiving and rotating supplies.
• Help with service during breakfast, lunch and dinner shifts.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times.

Required profile

• Passion for delivering a great culinary experience.
• Previous kitchen experience or current study in culinary arts.
• Willingness to learn, take direction and grow under senior chefs.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Positive, team‑focused attitude aligned with TRIBE’s authentic vibe.
• Flexibility to work evenings, early mornings, weekends and public holidays.
