Commis Chef – Full‑time at Sudima Auckland Airport

About the role

Sudima Auckland Airport is looking for a passionate Commis Chef to join its vibrant kitchen team. You will work across a range of dining services, including room service, à la carte, buffet breakfast, and the Visaya restaurant for lunch and dinner. This is a full‑time permanent position on a rotating roster.

Key responsibilities

• Plan menus, estimate food and labour costs, and order supplies.
• Monitor dish quality at every stage of preparation and presentation.
• Collaborate with managers, dietitians, kitchen and waiting staff on food preparation issues.
• Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise on procedures.
• Prepare and cook food while enforcing strict hygiene regulations.
• Train and mentor junior staff as needed.
• Freeze, preserve, and store foods according to safety standards.

Required profile

• At least three years of experience in a busy kitchen environment.
• NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2) or equivalent experience.
• Strong planning, organisational, and multitasking abilities.
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including weekends, nights and public holidays.
• Ability to lift heavy pots and work under pressure.
• Legal right to work in New Zealand.
