Commercial Manager – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

HEB Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead commercial activities on a flagship infrastructure programme in Marlborough, New Zealand. Reporting to the Project Director, you will be the commercial hub of the project, ensuring financial performance, contract compliance and strong stakeholder relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Direct all commercial operations, overseeing cost control, forecasting and financial governance.
• Manage contracts and sub‑contracts, including negotiations, claims, variations, extensions of time and monthly valuations.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing commercial team, fostering a culture of ownership and innovation.
• Oversee procurement systems, IT interfaces and project reporting.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, suppliers, subcontractors and the client.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Accounting or Law.
• 10+ years of experience in quantity surveying or commercial management on large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• 5+ years of proven leadership experience.
• Strong financial acumen and contract management capability.
