Cloud Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to join a large enterprise organisation in Wellington. The role bridges cloud architecture and hands‑on engineering, taking ownership of solution design and automated delivery across Azure, AWS, and on‑premise environments. This long‑term contract offers the chance to shape enterprise‑scale cloud capabilities using advanced automation, hybrid networking, and modern orchestration tools.

Key responsibilities

• Own solution design and implementation across Azure and AWS platforms.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code using Terraform for automated, scalable deployments.
• Manage complex cloud networking, integration, identity, and security in hybrid environments.
• Optimise CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
• Drive continuous operational improvements and provide expert troubleshooting for enterprise cloud services.
• Participate in on‑call support rosters to ensure high availability and system performance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer with strong Linux and Windows administration.
• Deep expertise in Azure (including Virtual WAN) and AWS cloud solutions.
• Hands‑on mastery of Terraform for production IaC delivery.
• Experience with Kubernetes environments (EKS, AKS, ARO, or OpenShift) is preferred.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Shell.
• Relevant certifications such as Azure DevOps Expert, AWS Certified, or CKA are highly desirable.
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
