Cloud Engineer – AWS & Azure

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud Engineer to design, build and operate hybrid cloud solutions on AWS and Azure. The role combines network engineering expertise with cloud infrastructure automation to support our enterprise‑grade services.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain LAN, WAN, VPN, SD‑WAN and wireless networks, including routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers.
• Build and manage cloud environments on AWS, Azure (and optionally GCP) using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep).
• Support cloud migration and modernization projects, monitor performance, availability, security and cost.
• Implement backup, disaster‑recovery and business‑continuity solutions for both on‑prem and cloud workloads.
• Apply network and cloud security controls, conduct vulnerability assessments and ensure compliance with organisational and New Zealand privacy standards.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and CI/CD pipelines; work with Docker, Kubernetes and scripting languages.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, cloud engineering or infrastructure roles.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, Azure Network Engineer (AZ‑700) or Azure Administrator.
• Hands‑on experience with firewalls, IAM, VPNs, security groups and network segmentation.
