Cloud & Data Engineer

About the role

Trade Depot, New Zealand's leading online home‑improvement retailer, is building the cloud and data foundations for its next phase of growth. We need a skilled Cloud & Data Engineer to design, implement and maintain a robust Azure environment and reliable data pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain Azure cloud services, including Entra ID, security and access controls.
• Own the data lake architecture and develop CI/CD‑enabled data pipelines.
• Lead SharePoint and OneDrive architecture, governance and cleanup initiatives.
• Create data foundations that enable AI agents to access company data safely with proper permissions.
• Collaborate with the IT Manager and AI delivery partner to align infrastructure with the Aurora roadmap.
• Document environments, processes and access controls for knowledge retention.
• Support and mentor the internal IT team as capabilities grow.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Cloud or DevOps/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, preferably with Microsoft Azure.
• Strong CI/CD and DevSecOps expertise.
• Hands‑on experience with data pipelines and containerised workloads.
• Experience or strong willingness to learn Microsoft 365, SharePoint and OneDrive governance.
• Confidence interacting directly with business leadership.
• Foundation‑first mindset, ensuring infrastructure is solid before scaling AI use cases.
• Based in Auckland or able to work on‑site regularly.
