Cloud Backend Architect – Education Products

About the role
As a Cloud Backend Architect you will provide technical leadership and architectural direction for ADInstruments' Education product suite. The focus is on designing, building and securing scalable cloud back‑end services that integrate seamlessly with desktop applications used by life‑science researchers and educators.
Key responsibilities
- Define and own the architecture of backend systems, including services, APIs and databases.
- Guide the technical approach for integrating cloud products with desktop applications, ensuring reliability and security.
- Mentor engineering teams on system design, performance optimisation and best practices.
- Collaborate with the Education Development Manager, CTO and Platform Development Team to align architecture with product strategy.
- Maintain compliance with security, privacy and regulatory requirements.
Required profile
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience in software architecture.
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven ability to design robust, maintainable and scalable web applications.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills, with experience influencing cross‑functional teams.

- TypeScript
- Experience with desktop‑to‑cloud synchronization patterns
- Knowledge of security, privacy and compliance in regulated environments
