Clinical Research Nurse – Breathlessness Study

About the role
This research‑funded position supports a clinical breathlessness study conducted by the Department of Medicine, University of Otago, at Hospice Southland. The role focuses on improving the quality of life for people living with breathlessness through participant recruitment, data collection and stakeholder engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Recruit and enrol participants for the breathlessness research project.
- Coordinate study activities, including scheduling visits and managing study documentation.
- Collect and enter research data accurately and maintain study records.
- Assist with ethics applications and ensure compliance with governance processes.
- Engage with community and health‑service stakeholders to promote the project.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practising Certificate.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational and administrative abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a rural and community setting.
- Commitment to culturally safe practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
- Interest in palliative, supportive or chronic disease care and health‑services research.
Required skills
- Electronic health records.
- Microsoft Office suite.
- Databases.
What we offer
- Variable hours (6–20 hrs per week) on a fixed‑term 18‑month contract.
- Salary range $84,147 – $106,319 per year (NZD).
- Opportunity to develop research capability within Hospice Southland and the wider Southland health community.
