Clinical Nurse Educator

About the role
The Clinical Nurse Educator will strengthen the capability of Waipuna Hospice’s nursing and clinical workforce and advance excellence in palliative and end‑of‑life care. Working closely with clinical teams, you will identify learning needs, develop education plans and support staff to build confidence and competence. The role also extends to partnering with external health providers to enhance community palliative‑care capability.
Key responsibilities
- Identify learning needs of nursing and clinical staff and develop education plans.
- Design, deliver and evaluate palliative‑care training programmes, including mandatory training and orientation for new staff.
- Lead the Professional Development Recognition Programme and support staff progression toward specialist practice.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external health‑care partners to strengthen palliative‑care capability across the community.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to nurses and carers to enhance confidence and competence in end‑of‑life care.
Required profile
- Registered Nurse with current NZ registration.
- Significant experience in palliative or hospice nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver clinical education.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Commitment to equitable, person‑centred end‑of‑life care.
