Clinical Leader - Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Inpatient Service

About the role

Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) is recruiting a Clinical Leader for its Regional Forensic and Rehabilitation Inpatient Mental Health Service, based at the Ratonga Rua o Porirua campus in Porirua. The role is permanent and part-time (24 hours per week), with a clinical leader allowance and a higher duty allowance paid pro rata. The service provides inpatient and outpatient care for youth and adult clients, including mentally disordered defendants and offenders with psychiatric illness, across prisons, courts, community and inpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership on clinical matters and maintain an effective clinical governance structure
• Implement quality and patient safety improvement measures
• Address complaints and medico-legal matters
• Oversight of recruitment to key clinical positions and ensure credentialing of medical staff
• Support and advise clinicians when concerns are raised about working conditions, performance, conduct or health

Required profile

• Experienced mental health senior clinician passionate about high-quality mental health care
• Previous Senior Clinical role with leadership experience in the health sector, preferably in a forensic and rehabilitation inpatient service
• Experience in a complex environment working with multiple stakeholders and agencies
• Tertiary qualification in a clinical discipline (medicine, nursing, psychology, social work, occupational therapy, etc.)
• Registered practicing healthcare clinician
• Experience managing clinical service delivery
