Class 2 Driver – Road Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking Class 2 Drivers to join our team on the Wellington City Council Road Maintenance contract. The role involves operating heavy trucks, loading and unloading specialised roading equipment, and supporting the crew with labour tasks on a permanent, on‑call roster.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Class 2 vehicles and heavy trucks safely on road construction sites.
• Load, unload and position specialised roading equipment and materials.
• Assist the crew with metal spreading, asphalt supply chain activities and general labour duties.
• Follow on‑call roster and work in all weather conditions.
• Adhere to road construction methodologies and safety standards.

Required profile

• Full Class 2 licence (Class 4 licence is a bonus).
• Experience in civil construction or road maintenance.
• Availability for an on‑call roster and flexible, reliable attendance.
• STMS certification desirable; WTR endorsement a plus.
• Ability to work rain or shine.

Required skills

• Operation of heavy trucks and Class 2 vehicles.
• Metal spreading and knowledge of the asphalt supply chain.
• Familiarity with RAMM (beneficial).
• STMS certification and WTR endorsement (optional).
