Chief People Officer – Lead HR Strategy

About the role

The Audit Office is seeking a visionary Chief People Officer to shape its people strategy, capability and culture. This senior leader will act as a trusted adviser to senior executives, influencing workforce performance and driving organisational initiatives that make a difference for New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of people strategy, capability building and cultural initiatives across the Office.
• Serve as a trusted adviser to senior leaders, shaping workforce performance and aligning talent with strategic objectives.
• Build leadership capability throughout the organisation and drive meaningful organisational change initiatives.
• Partner with senior stakeholders to ensure people practices support the Office’s mission and public service goals.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior HR leadership roles, preferably within large or public sector organisations.
• Demonstrated ability to advise and influence senior executives on people‑related matters.
• Strong track record of developing and implementing culture and capability programmes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
