Chief Executive – Lead Te Aho's Vision for a Suicide-Free Aotearoa

About the role

Te Aho is seeking a values‑driven Chief Executive to guide the organisation through its next phase of growth. The role will champion the vision of an Aotearoa without suicide, working across the nation with a wide range of partners to embed sustainable, upstream suicide prevention strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for Te Aho, ensuring the organisation remains fit for purpose.
• Build and nurture relationships with government agencies, iwi, hapū, Māori providers, NGOs, philanthropic bodies and other strategic partners.
• Strengthen organisational capability, diversify funding streams and ensure financial sustainability.
• Lead the development and implementation of policies, programs and services that address social, identity and systemic factors influencing suicide risk.
• Represent Te Aho publicly, advocating for systemic change and raising the profile of suicide prevention.

• Proven experience leading organisational growth, transformation or change in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Values‑based leadership style that creates agile, high‑performing teams.

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience securing sustainable funding.
