About the role
The school is looking for a reliable and organised Chef/Baker to support the Acland House kitchen. Working closely with the Executive Chef/Catering Manager, you will help deliver high‑quality meals and baked goods for boarding students on a flexible, part‑time schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Lead daily baking and preparation of afternoon tea for students.
- Assist with lunch, dinner and dessert preparation, ensuring stock is replenished for the next shift.
- Perform food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, chopping, cutting and cooking.
- Maintain a clean, food‑safe kitchen environment, including washing utensils, cleaning equipment and laundering kitchen linen.
- Uphold health and safety policies and safeguarding procedures.
Required profile
- Highly organised, proactive and positive with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Attention to detail and willingness to work independently or as part of a team.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand and successful completion of police vetting and reference checks.
Required skills
- Baking and food preparation.
- Kitchen hygiene and food safety handling (food‑handling certificate preferred).
- Operation and cleaning of kitchen equipment.
What we offer
- Flexible roster with a minimum of 20 hours per week during term time.
- Fixed‑term contract from 24 August 2026 to 14 March 2027.
