Charge Nurse

About the role

The Charge Nurse is a full‑time, on‑site position at our Dannevirke facility. You will coordinate nursing activities during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality patient care in line with clinical standards and organisational policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and allocate workload for nursing staff on the shift.
• Monitor patient status, support clinical decision‑making and manage resources such as staffing and supplies.
• Facilitate communication between multidisciplinary team members and address patient and whānau concerns promptly.
• Assist with orientation, mentoring and professional development of staff.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, team meetings and ensure compliance with regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the New Zealand regulatory authority and eligibility to practice.
• Proven clinical experience in an acute or primary‑care setting with strong assessment, planning and coordination abilities.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, including delegating tasks and supporting staff development.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive care and adherence to ethical standards.
