Chapter Lead - Business Intelligence

About the role

As a Chapter Lead you will be the subject‑matter expert for Business Intelligence and Analytics within ANZ’s Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence. You will lead a chapter of up to ten members, support all business units in New Zealand and spend roughly 20‑30% of your time working directly with squads on complex analysis, reporting and visualisation.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain frameworks, standards and templates for chapter members (requirements, wireframes, testing, peer reviews).
• Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and other Chapter Leads to develop best‑practice guidelines.
• Provide thought leadership, coaching and mentorship to promote high‑quality BI delivery.
• Contribute to project deliverables across squads, offering SME input and quality assurance.
• Act as the escalation point for challenging data questions within the discipline.
• Foster a strong community and positive workplace culture focused on learning and continuous improvement.
• Identify innovative delivery methods, including automation and AI tools.
• Manage chapter members’ performance, feedback and HR data in accordance with organisational policies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics, preferably in a banking or large‑scale data environment.
• Proven track record of leading technical teams of up to ten people.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Ability to coach, mentor and influence peers and squad members.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
